Accommodations and Food
A true and significant slice of history is found at Platteville's M Walnut Ridge (2238
Hwy.A,608/348-9359, www.walnutridgewi.com ,$160).Thesethreemeticulouslyrestored
buildings date from the very beginnings of the lead era, including an 1839 miners' bunk-
house relocated from British Hollow, now a bungalow, and an immigrant family's house-
barn for a kitchen. Not the usual motley arrangement of mismatched antiques—here you'll
sleep in real, believe it or not, rope beds, and bathe in tin bathtubs.
