Feed Mill (114 Cramer St., 608/795-4909, lunch and dinner Tues.-Sat., brunch and dinner
Sun., $11-25). The eclectic heartland fare is luscious, true enough, but the exquisitely well-
renovated 1857 mill and period detailing are equally fine—garnering nods from the state's
historical society.

Blue Mound State Park
Penning notes of his Wisconsin River explorations in 1776, Jonathan Carver detailed ex-
tensively the “mountains” due south of the river. The highest point in southern Wisconsin
at 1,719 feet above sea level, the salient upthrust, now Blue Mound State Park, doesn't
exactly spur migratory peregrinations, but it's rumored to hold Native treasure.
NotethesingularBlueMoundparkandthepluralBlueMoundstown;nohistoricalmis-
take, there are in fact two mounds—the shorter eastern twin is now Brigham County Park
in Dane County. Both are multilayered candy drops of geology.
