In-Depth Information
Lancaster's courthouse dome was modeled after the dome of St. Peter's Basilica.
One place most don't know anything about is the sublime Cassville Bluffs-Roe Unit,
southeast along WIS 133 2.5 miles to a right turn onto Sand Lake Lane. This State Natural
Area has rare flora such as goat prairie, Kentucky coffee tree (a true Wisky unknown), and
honey locust. Trails bypass an eagle effigy mound. Even if you know zilch about trees, go
for the great views.
One of the largest assemblages of bald eagles along this stretch of the Mississippi River
(one link in a massive national wildlife refuge) is on display in January during Bald Eagle
Days.
