Diamond Bluff, Hager City, and Bay City
The road gets serious outside of Prescott, rolling and bending, swooping and descending.
Later, it gets even more ambitious, a downright roller coaster toward Diamond Bluff. The
road, in fact, is bending around prominent Dry Run Coulee.
Beyond this, WIS 35 forsakes the river altogether, whipping eastward in a grand curl
before cutting south toward Diamond Bluff. This flyspeck town was the site of the state's
largestriverdisaster inthe19thcentury (aplaque tells thestory);today,keepaneyeoutfor
clamming boats. Better, heading west onto Highway E will take you along hills and small
roads to grand vistas.
Once again, the river bends sharply away from straight-as-a-preacher WIS 35; Hager
City comes and goes—oops, missed it. That's OK, as south of town you can jump off onto
