FOOD
The Anchor Bar (413TowerAve.,715/394-9747,10am-2amdaily,$4-10)isabasiccorner
bar, but it has the best burgers—and a huge variety (hey, even a cashew burger)—in the re-
gion.
The very good Shack (3301 Belknap St., 715/392-9836, 7am-2am daily, $6-18) defies
categorization. Is it a family restaurant with a fusion complex? Fusion family? Whatever,
expect standards, sure, but always with a twist (say, chili on your eggs).
Microbrews and fabulous deep-dish pizza are at Thirsty Pagan Brewing (1623 Broad-
wayAve.,715/394-2500,3pm-11pmweekdays,from11amweekends,$10-25),whichmost
locals will point you to as the place to go around here.

The Superior and Douglas County Convention and Visitors Bureau (Belknap St., 715/

Belknap Street. Another office is adjacent to Fairlawn Mansion.
GETTING THERE
No bus service exists. Driving to Superior from Ashland (via U.S. 2, 65 miles) takes 75
minutes.
