Downtown Spooner's Railroad Memories Museum (715/635-3325, spoonerrailroadmu-

Spooner's Canoe Heritage Museum (312 N. Front St., 715/635-5002, 10am-4pm
Wed.-Sat, 11am-3pm in summer, weekends only in Sept., $4) is like nothing else like in the
state, to be sure. You'll even see workers bending ribs to make classic canoes.
The state fish hatchery (U.S. 70, 715/635-4147, tours 10am and 2pm Mon.-Fri. May-
Labor Day, free), a half-mile west of U.S. 63 on U.S. 70, is now among the world's largest
freshwater rearing stations.
Spooner is also on the 96-mile-long Wild Rivers Trail, which stretches through three
northern counties on an old railroad bed. Long Lake is one of the largest and most popular
resort zones in the area.
