Come here and you can't not hear about the dining and dinner theater combo at the
Fanny
Hill Inn
(3919 Crescent Ave., 715/836-8184, 5pm-9pm Thurs.-Sat. in summer, brunch and
occasionally dinner Sun., $13-26). The dining room view is certainly worth the kudos, of-
fering superb views of the Chippewa Valley.
Best breakfast in northern Wisconsin is at the

Nucleus Café

834-7777, breakfast and lunch, from $5). This isn't your parents' Northern Wisconsin café;
everything is done with a creative twist. Applewood bacon rather than bacon, hash browns
with poblano peppers, and the like. I can't travel here without wolfing a Cajun crab om-
elette.
Many people don't know that Wisconsin has one of the United States' highest Hmong
populations, and hole-in-the-wall
Egg Roll Plus

and dinner daily, $5—10) splendidly shows their culture (think Thai, Vietnamese, Laotian,
even Chinese, but with a twist).
On the “other” side of the park,
Mike's Smokehouse and Roadhouse BBQ

Clairemont, 715/834-8153, 11am-9:30pm daily, $4-12) has way-above-average barbecue
and excellent side dishes.
