The Grignon Mansion (AugustineSt.,920/766-3122, www.foxvalleyhistory.org ) wasbuilt
in 1838 by Augustin Grignon to replace the log shack lived in by rum-dealing city founder
Dominique Ducharme. It has been thoroughly renovated, down to the hand-carved newel
posts and imposing brick fireplaces, while the apple orchard still stands. (Though from the
outside it doesn't look much like a “mansion.”) Several of Kaukauna's legendary locks can
be reached via the grounds. Currently no walk-in tours are available.
