definitely helpful.
GETTING THERE
By Air
The Outagamie County Airport ( www.atwairport.com ) isthefourth-busiestinWisconsin,
with 60 flights daily.
By Car
Driving to Appleton from Green Bay (via US 41, 30 miles) takes 40 minutes. From Madis-
on (via US 151 and US 41, 105 miles), it takes two hours. From Sturgeon Bay (via WIS
57 and U.S. 41, 77 miles), it takes an hour and 20 minutes. From Milwaukee (via US 41,
108 miles), it takes just under two hours. From Chicago (via I-94 and U.S. 41, 195 miles),
it takes three hours.
By Bus
Greyhound (100 E. Washington St., 920/733-2318) has frequent daily departures to major
regional cities. Lamers bus line (800/261-6600) also has one departure daily to Milwau-
kee's Amtrak station and one to Wausau.

NEENAH-MENASHA
The twin cities of Neenah-Menasha are casually regarded as one entity, though their gov-
ernments are separate. They share Doty Island, where Little Lake Butte des Mortes of the
Fox River empties into Lake Winnebago.
Two Fox River channels flowing past the island and two minor promontories created
ready-made water powerandgaverisetothebirthofbothvillages bythe1840s.Depressed
industries spurred papermaking, and within three decades Neenah-Menasha ruled the
powerful Wisconsin papermaking region.
