MM Wisconsin Maritime Museum
At peak WWII production, Manitowoc eclipsed even major East Coast shipbuilding cen-
ters. Its legacy is remembered at the Wisconsin Maritime Museum (75 Maritime Dr.,
920/684-0218, www.wisconsinmaritime.org , 9am-6pm daily Memorial Day-Labor Day,
9am-5pm daily Labor Day-Memorial Day, $12 includes access to the Cobia ). Flanked by
the USS Cobia submarine—a National Historic Landmark, one of 28 built here, and one
reason Manitowoc is the only U.S. city with streets named after subs—the museum is an
amazing conglomeration of Great Lakes (especially local) maritime history.
