Fine Dining
If you're staying in the Grand Geneva Resort, you're set, with a couple of the state's most
regarded restaurants. A restaurant of note is the Grandview (2009 S. Lake Shore Drive,
262/248-5680) at the Geneva Inn.
But you needn't head to a city-state resort. In this town, if you throw a stick, you hit a
bistro. Problem is, at the handful in town, the food is great, but the service tends toward
mediocre (not every visit, but often enough).
Cafés
You'll want to visit the Simple Cafe (525 Broad St., 262/248-3556, breakfast and lunch
daily,$6-14),thoughit'sonlyopenforbreakfastandlunch.Allingredientsaresourcedloc-

The Lake Geneva Chamber of Commerce (201 Wrigley Dr., 262/248-4416 or 800/
345-1020, www.lakegenevawi.com ) is well versed in helping tourists out.

to the manufacture of musical instruments.
One rumor running rampant around Elkhorn concerns the existence of a large-eared,
werewolf-type beast said to prowl the surrounding forests. During the last century, many
sightings have been reported; the local humane officer once even had a file labeled “were-
wolf.”
While in Elkhorn don't miss Watson's Wild West Museum (off U.S. 12/67—look
for the sign, 262/723-7505, www.watsonswildwestmuseum.com , 10am-5pm Mon.-Sat.,
1pm-5pm Sun., May-Oct., $5 adults). This is the lifelong labor of love of the proprietor,
who's got a serious Western obsession. Over 35 years his collection has grown to museum-
