Enjoy huge burgers (and assorted “roadkill”) at Hanson's Bar & Grill (615 E. Cranston
Rd., 608/313-8797, www.hansonsbarandrestaurant.com , 11am-variable hours daily, $2-8)
on the river along U.S. 51. It's also the place to experience local flavor, hands down.
Domenico's (547 E. Grand Ave., 608/365-9489, 11am-11pm daily, $6-9) is the pizza
joint of choice, with a good veggie pie. Also featured are Italian goodies such as chicken
primavera, veal a'dominico, and lots of shrimp and seafood.
Equally traditional (as in, the chairs may be five decades old) and open for over seven
decades is M The Butterfly Club (Hwy. K east of town, 608/362-8577, 5pm-9:30pm
Mon.-Sat., noon-8pm Sun., $9-23). Enjoy supper club dining on a patio and likely the best
fish fry around (available Wednesday nights as well as Friday). You gotta love fresh-baked
cinnamon rolls with your meal. Live entertainment is featured on Friday and Saturday.

GETTING THERE
Van Galder buses (608/752-5407) stop in Beloit on their forays to and from Madison
and Chicago (O'Hare airport and downtown). The 10 daily buses (each way) stop at the
McDonald's in South Beloit, at the junction of IL 75 and U.S. 51.
DrivingtoBeloitfromJanesville(viaUS51,14miles)takes24minutes.FromMadison
(via I-90, 50 miles), it takes 45 minutes. From Milwaukee (via I-43, 75 miles), it takes 75
minutes.
Lake Geneva and Environs
Of Wisconsin's three lakes regions, the southernmost playground is the gateway resort city
of Lake Geneva (not to be confused with the lake itself, Geneva Lake).
