FOOD
Mangia (5517 Sheridan Rd., 262/652-4285, www.kenoshamangia.com , 11:30am-2pm
Tues.-Fri., 5pm-9pm Tues.-Sat., 4pm-9pm Sun., $9-30) fits Italian-heavy Kenosha to a T.
This basic trattoria pushes out lovely wood-fired pizzas and exquisitely done pastas, meats,
seafoods, and roasted entrées. Barack Obama has been quoted calling the owner his favor-
ite chef. There have been a few unhappy reviews of late, but the vast majority still find it
wonderful.
Some say the most nostalgic Kenosha Italian experience comes from longtime fave
M Tenuta's Deli (3203 52nd St., 262/657-9001, 9am-8pm Mon.-Sat., 9am-5pm Sun.,
$4-9). A good place to stop if you're in a hurry, it's got a smattering of pastas, salads, and
ready-made entrées. It's also an outstanding Italian grocery store.

ored M Frank's Diner (508 58th St., near HarborPark, 262/657-1017, 6am-1:30pm Mon.-
Sat., 7am-noon Sun., $3-10), a place where factory workers coming off shift and misunder-

lunch car diner in the United States (pulled here by six horses). Forget the train car aspect;
this is simply roots eating, plain and simple, in a warm and welcoming Midwestern atmo-
sphere.
Kenosha now has a Scandinavian bakery and cuisine at the delightful Linnea Bakery
(512 56th St., 262/515-9222, www.linneabakery.com , 7:30am-3:30pm Tues.-Fri. 7am-4pm
Sat., from $4), where you can get Swedish cinnamon rolls for breakfast and Swedish meat-
balls for lunch. It's fabulous.
