Getting There and Around
GETTING THERE
By Air
General Mitchell International Airport (5300 S. Howell Ave., 414/747-5300,
www.mitchellairport.com ) is southeast of downtown, near Cudahy. It's best reached by
traveling I-94 south and following the signs. From downtown, head south on 6th Street
North; it should get you to WIS 38 (Howell Avenue). Nearly 50 cities are reached direct
from Milwaukee; more than 220 flights per day depart.
Shed a tear for Milwaukee-based Midwest Airlines, which in 2010 was taken over by
Frontier Airlines (800/432-1359, www.frontierairlines.com ). Oh, it's still fine, but gone
are the double-wide leather seats, among other amazing amenities; at least they kept the
famed baked-on-board cookies. Nonstop flights are available to all major and minor air-
ports in the nation.

this includes Southwest and Spirit.

For all ground transportation questions, call the airport's hotline, 414/747-5308.
By Car
From the west, I-94 is Milwaukee's primary thoroughfare. I-894 skirts the southern and
western fringes north to south, and I-43 meets I-94 at the Marquette interchange downtown
and then heads north toward Door County.
