2.5.2.2 The Con guring Phase: Setting of Work ow Nodes
The abstract work
first (editing) phase represents only the
structure (graph) of a workflow, but the semantics of the nodes are not defined yet.
The abstract work
ow created in the
ow can be used to generate various concrete workflows in the
configuring phase.
The concrete work
ows are derived from abstract work
ows by exactly speci-
fying the work
ow nodes and the DCIs where the various nodes should be exe-
cuted. The concrete work
ows generated from a certain graph can be different
concerning the semantics of the work
ow nodes, and the input and output
les
associated with ports.
The node con
guration includes:
algorithm con
guration: determines the functionality of a node;
￿
target DCI resource con
guration: determines where this activity will be
￿
executed;
port con
guration: determines what input data the job needs and how the result
(s) will be forwarded to the user or to other jobs as inputs.
￿
guration in WS-PGRADE contains the following generic
functions (see also Fig. 2.5 ):
A typical node con
1. The properties of the node can be de
ned by the Job executable con
guration
function (see Fig. 2.5 ).
2. The Port con
guration function helps users to de
ne the
file arguments of the
required calculation. Each port con
guration entry belonging to the current node
is listed and can be made visible.
3. By using the JDL/RSL function users can add or remove ads. Removing an ad
happens by the association of an empty string to the selected key.
4. The state and history of the node con
guration can be checked by the Job
configuration history function.
5. The error free state of the con
guration can be checked by the Info function.
guration
in order to control the runtime execution of the created job instances. All instances
of a node marked by a breakpoint can be tracked in the job submission process
(Manual 2014).
Users can also de
ne breakpoints for every node during work
ow con
