WS-PGRADE/gUSE Community
The SCI-BUS technology including the WS-PGRADE/gUSE gateway framework,
the CloudBroker Platform, the SCI-BUS Portlet Repository, and SHIWA Work
ow
Repository is accessible via several web pages (SCI-BUS web page ( http://www.
sci-bus.eu/ ) , gUSE web page ( http://guse.hu/ ), SourceForge ( https://sourceforge.
net/projects/guse/ ) ). The gUSE SourceForge web page is particularly important
since the source code of all the releases of WS-PGRADE/gUSE can be down-
loadable from there. So far, 26 versions have been released since February 2011
when the project was opened at SourceForge and more than 15,000 downloads
happened since that time from 75 countries. With these
gures, WS-PGRADE/
gUSE is by far the most popular science gateway at SourceForge.
The license policy of WS-PGRADE/gUSE enables both community and
commercial use of the code since it is based on Apache. During the SCI-BUS
project we have put in a great deal of effort to strengthen the community aspects of
developing the code. Although the core code is developed by MTA SZTAKI, more
and more external communities have started to contribute to the code. For example,
two new DCI Bridge plugins have been developed recently: for SGE clusters by the
Ru
Tübingen.
The activity of the portal developer community is extremely important with respect
to the sustainability of the code.
The SourceForge user community is indeed very active, not only in download-
ing the code and contributing to its development but also in providing feedback and
further requirements. So far 221 bugs have been reported and 160 of them have
been resolved. WS-PGRADE/gUSE community members communicated 75
feature requests and posted 185 messages on the SourceForge Discussion forum
of. To further maintain the interaction with the community members, the WS-
PGRADE/gUSE development roadmap table is published and regularly updated at
the SCI-BUS web page ( http://www.sci-bus.eu/guse ) .
