Southern Rhodes
South of Lindos along the east coast, the island takes on a windswept appearance and en-
joys less tourist traffic; the villages here seem to have a slower pace. Just 2km south of
Lindos, sandy
Pefki Beach
is deservedly popular. If it's too crowded, try
Glystra Beach

just down the road and a great spot for swimming.
The flourishing village of
Laerma
is 12km northwest of Lardos.
Gennadi Γεννάδι

This sleepy one-street town has a few
kafeneia
(coffee houses), friendly locals and a
cluster of whitewashed buildings set back a few hundred metres from the pebbled beach.
You'll find a fruit market, bakery, supermarket, internet cafe, car hire and a couple of
tavernas.

Watch for a signposted turning to

, 2km off the main highway, and head
downhill into the old town to find a village of winding alleyways and traditional build-
ings.
