In-Depth Information
Old Town
The majority of nightlife happens around Platonos and Ippokratous squares.
Rock and Roll
BAR
(Plateia Arionos; )
Cool diner-style haunt with metro-tiled walls and '50s songs play-
ing as you plant yourself at the bar, fix your quiff in the mirror and tuck into a burger.
Great balls of fire!
Rogmitou Chronou
BAR
(
www.rogmitouxronou.gr
; Plateia Arionos; 10pm-5am; )
Otherwise known as the Music
Bar, this cosy wood-and-exposed-stone watering hole has a down and dirty appeal. Dark
enough to please a goth and lively enough to keep you awake till dawn, Friday night
there's live rock, while on Monday there's an acoustic set.
Macao Bar
BAR
( 9.30pm-3am)
Uberstylish bar hidden in the Old Town down a back alley; expect
moody, low-lit ambience, buffed cement floors, the stars in panorama above the decked
terrace, and a well-heeled crowd of fashionistas. Mojitos (€7).
New Town
Locals hang out along the bar-lined I Dragoum, while the tourist haunts are found along
Akti Miaouli, Orfanidou and Griva.
Methexi
BAR
(28 Oktovriou, cnr Griva; )
If Leonard Cohen was a bar he'd look something like this bo-
hemian, jazz-infused joint. Candelabra, antique mirrors, indie film posters and vintage
typewriters are part of its charm. There's a lively sun terrace out front which has partial
shade. Coffees and spirits.
Christo's Garden
BAR
