ioned kitchen utensils, this local place sits quietly alongside more glitzy cafes on the
main waterfront. There's a good range of mezedhes, such as snails in vinegar sauce, and

) On the 1st floor of a yellow house with shutters painted a cheerful purple, this
country-chic restaurant is headed by Tonya Karandinou, who has a knack for infusing
Cretan cuisine with Mexican and Asian influences for mash-ups that pack a flavour
punch. Fine Greek wines complement the dishes.

There are several banks with ATMs in the centre of town. You may want to cash up here
if you're headed further east, as there is only one other ATM in Palekastro.

Getting There & Away
AIR
Sitia's airport is about 1.5km north of town and receives only domestic flights. A taxi in-
to town costs about €8.
BOAT
Ferries dock 600m north of Plateia Iroön Polytechniou. Sitia is on the Piraeus-Rhodes
route operated by Aegeon Pelagos, a subsidiary of Anek ( www.anek.gr ), with stops in
Karpathos, Iraklio, Santorini and Milos. Akasti Travel (
