Eating
Arodamos GREEK $
( 28410 41122; Naksou 6; mains €4-9; 11am-late; ) Andriani and Dimitris' charismat-
ic eatery occupies a century-old house fronted by a sweet little garden. The inspired
mezedhes are a great overture to the succulent roast chicken or authentic kondosouvli
(roasted liver wrapped in intestines) from the outdoor rotisserie. It's one block from the
main square.
Kaaren's CAFE $
( 28410 41709; Akti Poseidonos 47; mains €4.50-6.50; 9am-6pm; ) This daytime-
only cafe makes great breakfasts and light meals. On Fridays, homesick Brits practically
mob the place for newspaper-wrapped fish 'n' chips.
Lotus Eaters MEDITERRANEAN $$$
( 28410 41538; www.lotus-eaters.com ; mains €7.50-26.50; lunch & dinner; ) In an envi-
able location at the end of the waterfront restaurant row, this taverna has a smart, con-
temporary feel that goes well with the fresh and intricately flavoured cuisine from around
the Med. A great wine list is another reason why it's at the top of many a foodie's fave
list.
Poulis GREEK $$$
( 28410 41451; waterfront restaurant row; mains €7-15; 10am-late; ) Although not as
slick as some of the other fish restaurants in town, Poulis is often packed to the gills
thanks to its wonderful owners, soulful seafood and richly nuanced mezedhes and veget-
able dishes.
Information
The post office and ATMs are on Elounda's main square, which doubles as a car park and
overlooks the harbour. From June to October, a tourist information kiosk ( 28410
42464; 8am-8pm Jun-Oct) may be open here, but if not Lynn at the Eklektos ( 28410
42086) bookshop (great selection of English-language novels) is a generous fount of use-
ful information.
