Getting Around
A new local bus links the main bus station with the harbour and the two in-town beaches
(€1). Manolis Bikes ( 28410 24940; 25 Martiou 12) has a huge range of scooters, motor-
cycles and quad bikes. For car rentals, try Club Cars ( 28410 25868; www.clubcars.net ;
per day from €40) . The most central taxi rank is behind the tourist office.

Around Agios Nikolaos

Elounda Ελούντα

There are fine mountain and sea views along the 11km road north from Agios Nikolaos
to Elounda (el- oon -da), which is centred on a handsome fishing harbour. The backdrop is
standard resort, but there is also a refreshing down-to-earth feel to the village, along with
some excellent waterfront eateries. The pleasant but unremarkable town beach, a short
walk north of the harbour, can get very crowded. On the south side of Elounda a cause-
way leads to the Kolokytha Peninsula.
