(after the Iraklio Archaeological Museum) includes clay coffins, ceramic musical instru-
ments and gold from Mohlos. Following an extended renovation, it is expected to reopen
in 2014.

museum provides a window on traditional, rural life but also features precious icons, fine
silk needlework and historic guns.

can get crowded, but they are convenient for a quick dip. About 1km north and south re-
spectively,
Ammoudi Beach

Almyros Beach
are also busy but much longer, with
better sand. All have snack bars, cafes and umbrella and sun-chair rentals.

six in Ellinika, about midway between Agios Nikolaos and Elounda. Set in a well-tended
