The airport is just off the E75 motorway. Bus 1 connects it with the city centre every 10
minutes between 6.15am and 10.45pm (€1.10). Handy in-town stops are Bus Station A

Iraklio's streets are narrow and chaotic, so it's best to drop your vehicle in a car park (per
day €4 to €7) and explore on foot.

Knossos Κνωσσός
Crete's must-see historical attraction is the Minoan Palace of Knossos ( 2810 231940;
adult/concession €6/3; 8am-8pm Jun-Sep, 8am-5pm Oct-May) , the capital of Minoan Crete
and only 5km south of Iraklio. To beat the crowds and avoid the heat, get there before
9am or after 3pm. Guided tours (in English, €10) last about 90 minutes and leave from
the kiosk past the ticket booth. Budget at least two hours for your visit.
