Oia Youth Hostel HOSTEL $

coming and clean, this is one of the best-run hostels you'll hope to find. Dorms have
eight to 12 beds per room but you're likely to spend more time at the little bar or on the
lovely rooftop terrace with great views. To find the hostel, keep straight on from the bus
terminus for about 100m.
Chelidonia Traditional Villas APARTMENT $$$

) Traditional cliff-side dwellings that have been in the owner's family for generations and
offer a grand mix of old and new. Modern niceties are balanced with traditional wooden
furniture, and private patios offer uninterrupted caldera views.
Zoe Houses BOUTIQUE HOTEL $$$

edge with all the comforts of home. Classy decor, amazing views and unrivalled hospital-
ity mean that this place gets a lot of returning guests. Book ahead. Each suite is entirely
different from the others and sleeps up to four.
Eating
Lotlita's Gelato ICE CREAM $
( 22860 71279; cones €3-6) The sign outside says, 'Taste our ice-ceam. Feel the love in
it.' One bite, and you do. Near the bus station, Lotlita's sells scoopfuls of homemade
heaven. With a gelato machine brought from Italy, they use fresh milk, fruit and nuts, and
come up with original flavours such as a gelato made from a local wine. It's not to be
missed.
Melenio BAKERY $
( 22860 71149; Nikolaou Nomikou; snacks €2-5; breakfast & lunch) Head downstairs to
this breezy little bakery, filled with traditional treats, ice cream and croissants. The tiled
floor and views out to sea make it a lovely spot for breakfast or a coffee break.
