(admission €3; 8am-3pm Tue-Sun) This museum is located in the Kastro, housed in the
former Jesuit school where novelist Nikos Kazantzakis was briefly a pupil. It's slightly
musty but items are well labelled and contain fascinating finds from the Ionic and Doric
eras. Watch for the oversized statue of Antonius, the Roman General.
Della Rocca-Barozzi Venetian Museum MUSEUM

May-Oct) This atmospheric museum is housed in a handsome old tower house of the 13th
century. If it feels as if someone still lives here but has just stepped out, it's because it's
true; the owners (direct decendents of the original Italian aristocrat owners) continue to
live here a few months of each winter. Wander through their rooms to see what they
wore, how the table was laid and how they furnished their rooms throughout the centur-
ies.
It's worth taking the tour, as guides have huge amounts of knowledge. The museum is
within the Kastro ramparts (by the northwest gate). There are changing art exhibitions in
the vaults. Evening concerts and other events are staged in the grounds of the museum.
Folk Museum MUSEUM

7-10pm) This small but well-maintained museum has managed to fit in farming imple-
ments, bee keeping, bread making, clothing, wine making, cheese production and history
without leaving you feeling overwhelmed.

range of windsurfing courses, walking trips in the mountains, and bike tours.
Naxos Bike CYCLING

to children's seats. They'll also set you up with maps to get you out exploring. Cycle
