Town, this cafe is big on flavour. Come for breakfast to try kiwi and basil smoothies, al-
mond butter banana milkshakes; fresh bread with local cheese, strawberries, pistachio
and honey; or quinoa granola with fig jam. At night, the wholesomeness makes way for
cocktails.
Xamilothoris Patisserie CAFE $
( 22840 51240; Main Sq; pastries €3-5; ) Pretend you've come for the coffee (which is,
in fact, excellent) but really indulge in the cakes, tarts and crepes. The homemade ice
cream is divine - try fig or pistachio. Here since 1967, this place is a fixture on the main
square.
To Takimi BAR
(Music Cafe; 22840 55095) Just south of the main square, this is where locals come to
drink beer or ouzo and listen to live music, often played on the traditional string instru-
ments waiting on the walls. Everything from rembetika to rock goes down here.

Information
The bus from Parikia terminates some way up from the main square just in from the wa-
terfront. The main street of Naoussa lies on the left of the riverbed. If arriving by car, be
warned: parking in certain areas is banned from June to September and fines are hefty.
To find the heart of the Old Town, take the pedestrian street to the left of Xamilothoris
Patisserie. The post office is a tedious uphill walk from the main square. There are sever-
al banks with ATMs around the main square.

ets and can help with accommodation, car hire and excursions.
