street near the water prepares excellent fresh fish dishes and grills.
Amvrosios SEAFOOD $$$

pricey fish taverna spilling onto a flowering side lane by the waterfront.
Information
Leof Irinis, two blocks up from the waterfront, has banks and ATMs.
An underwater car tunnel (€3) 2.5km west of Preveza links it with Aktion; no pas-
senger ferry exists. However, the tunnel management is legally obliged to transport cyc-
lists and pedestrians through, for free.
On a southern-waterfront alley, Karyatis Travel ( 6949225729; www.karyatis-travel.gr ;
cnr Salaminos 1 & Venizelou; 9am-2pm & 5-8pm) sells ferry and plane tickets. Ebullient
owner Tzeni Nota speaks Greek, English, Thai and Arabic.
Getting There & Away
AIR
Preveza airport (7km south; sometimes called Lefkada or Aktion) is a European sum-
mer charter-flight hub, with numerous destinations. Domestically, Sky Express
( www.skyexpress.gr ) serves Sitia in Crete and several Ionian islands. Taxis cost €12.
BUS
Preveza's bus station is 2km from town; taxi drivers charge €4 or more to the centre.
Buses serve Ioannina (€10.40, two hours, nine daily), Parga (€5.50, two hours, five
daily), Igoumenitsa (€13.30, 2½ hours, two daily), Thessaloniki (€39.30, eight hours, two
daily) and Athens (€37.30, six hours, five daily).
