) Although it bills itself as 'the megaresort of the north', this 200-room Grecotel on
the sea, just west of town, isn't completely opulent. The resort does have friendly staff,
several pools, a fitness and massage centre, restaurants and babysitting services.

central Athina offers clean and simple rooms, some with balconies. First child (under age

Psarotaverna tis Kyra Dimitras SEAFOOD $
( 25510 34434; cnr Kountourioti & Dikastirion; fish €6-13) Venerable old Kyra Dimitra is still
overseeing this seafood restaurant, in the family since 1915. Choose from the daily catch,
set out on ice; tsipoura (sea bream) is tasty and only €20 per kilo, and the mussels are
good too.
Ai Giorgis TAVERNA $
( 25510 71777; Demirali Beach; fish €7-12; 10am-1am) On Demirali Beach, Ai Giorgi has
smooth wooden floors and candlelit tables. Everything is good, from varied salads and
stuffed mushrooms to fish dishes.
I Love Gelato ICE CREAM $
( 25510 24832; cnr Megas Alexandrou & Karaiskaki; gelato €2; 10am-midnight) An Italy-
trained gelato-maker runs this ice-cream parlour, opposite the lighthouse.
To Nisiotiko SEAFOOD $$$
( 25510 20990; Zarifi 1; fish €8-16) This somewhat pricy west-side fish taverna has ambi-
ence, with light, eclectic decor and expertly prepared seafood.
