AGIA KYRIAKI ΑΓΙΑ ΚΥΡΙΑΚΗ
This is the last stop on the Pelion Peninsula, a steep 2km drive off the main road, or a
quick 1km walk down a cobblestone path. This fishing village sees few tourists, and the
bright, orange-coloured boats are put to good use by a hard-working population of
around 200. The Agia Kyriaki Hotel ( 24230 91112, 6978771831; www.agiakyriaki.gr ; s/d incl
breakfast €35/50; May-Sep) has a stunning setting, and there are three fish tavernas in a
row, facing the opposite shores of Evia. Manolas is known for its lobster spaghetti.
PALIO TRIKERI ΠΑΛΙΟ ΤΡΙΚΕΡΙ
If you really must go that one step further to get away from it all, then head for this little
island with a year-round population of 15, just off the coast; it's often called Nisos (Is-
land) for short. To reach tiny Nisos from the fishing village of Alogoporos , a five-
minute boat ride away (€2 per person), telephone Nikos at Taverna Diavlos (
6976851056; mains €5-10; Feb-Nov) on Nisos. There are a couple of domatia at the tav-
erna. Wild camping is possible as well, but the main activities on Palio Trikeri are ex-
plaining to locals why you're there, and then explaining to yourself why you're leaving.
