In-Depth Information
(mains €6.50-12; Sep-May) Fresh flowers and lace curtains and its location - a couple of
blocks from the 'new harbour' - add a touch of taverna class to Galaxidi. Proud owner
Bebelis (the owner's nickname) offers a lovely go-slow experience; the menu's photos
accurately reflect the tasty specialities.
Albatross TAVERNA $
( 22650 42233; Konstadinou Satha 36; mains €6-8; lunch & dinner) We love this little
place near the Church of Agios Nikolaos, run by a long-standing couple. The generous
offerings of mezedhes (try the dolmadhes - stuffed vine leaves) along with a few oven-
ready dishes are always tasty and cheap.
Skeletovrachos SEAFOOD $$$
(mains €10-20, fish per kg €36-50) The owner's son is the chef at this reliable spot (named
after a former sea captain). Seafood is the go and the menu is 'naughty' - think 'aphro-
disiacs' - from oysters and shrimps, to the likes of 'immoral rice' (you guessed it, a spicy
dish). Saucy gimmickry aside, it's good quality.
Information
The post office and a bank are on Nikolaou Mama. All the cafes have wi-fi access.

West of Galaxidi, the coastal highway winds in and out of a number of seaside towns and
villages, including picturesque Monastiraki, 12km before the bustling town of Nafpaktos.
Nafpaktos spreads out from a handsome circular-walled harbour, dotted with plane trees,
trendy cafes and a good swimming beach (Psani). An open market takes place every
Saturday.
