The Fedriades is a reliable bet with small, neat but bright and modern
motel-style rooms and extra-friendly staff. Enthusiastic and helpful owner Babis will
help with onward routes; breakfast includes some homemade treats. The lobby is a pleas-
ant place to lounge after a site visit.
Hotel Acropole

On
the quieter street below the main drag, the Acropole has a ski-lodge ambience, though it
hasn't changed its 'on piste' wear for a while. The rooms are pleasant and most have
wood and wrought-iron fittings. Top-floor rooms have angled roofs and great views
across to the gulf.

Eating in Delphi can be a so-so experience. Try these worthy exceptions.
Taverna Vakhos

Take the steps above the
National Bank to this excellent family taverna featuring traditional local fare. Ask for
what's fresh that day - they get local produce if possible and gather the herbs themselves.
If nothing appeals, make a meal of appetisers alone, eg

the local cheese (€6).
Taverna Gargadouas

Easily the local favourite for
grilled meats. The house summer speciality is
provatina
(slow-roasted lamb). You can
also tuck into a combo of pasta, souvlaki, salad and seasonal fruit for a modest €13. Gen-
erally, it's good value.
Souvlaki Pita Gyros

(Apollonos; mains €2-6)
The budget option: cheap, fast, fresh, go. Opposite Hotel Leto.
