Tours
To really make the site come alive - to visualise the buffed and oiled athletes, the visiting
all-male crowds, the dignitaries and the pomp and ceremony of the ancient Games - it's
well worth considering hiring a guide, especially if there are a few of you. Tours usually
include both the site and museum, but any preference will be catered for. Recommended

Sleeping
A self-drive day trip to Olympia from as far as Athens, Nafplio or Kalamata is time- con-
suming and relatively arduous. We suggest you factor at least one night to stay here. Al-
ternatively, Stemnitsa or Dimitsana make excellent overnight stopovers on the way to
Ancient Olympia if you are heading on the east-west route across the region.
