Nafplio's streets burst with boutique hotels. These renovated former mansions
vary in style, though most have four to eight (often cramped) rooms with contem-
porary, period or kitsch furnishings. Prices include cable TV. Note: all have steep in-

place is an interior designer's delight - funkily colourful and colourfully funky.
Eating
Although full of reasonable eateries, Nafplio won't blow your culinary mind. Go beyond
the tourist eateries along Staïkopoulou and you'll discover some surprises.

and local products are used and it's all made on the premises.
In any case, you'll see and smell (and we'll bet, soon taste) the smorgasbord of the
best (yes, best) traditional gelati outside Italy. The panini (rolls) are good for a picnic
lunch, too.
