Getting Around

TO/FROM THE AIRPORT
Buses run to and from and the airport nine times daily (€2); taxis from the airport cost an
extortionate €25 to €30 to Vathy (Samos) or €6 to Pythagorio, from where there are local
buses to Vathy.

BOAT
Summer excursion boats travel twice weekly (Monday and Friday) from Pythagorio to
Patmos (return €5), leaving at 8am. Daily excursion boats go from Pythagorio to Sami-
opoula islet (including lunch, €25).

BUS
From Vathy bus station ( 22730 27262; www.samospublicusses.gr ; Themistokli Sofouli) , fre-
quent daily buses serve Kokkari (€1.50, 20 minutes), Pythagorio (€1.70, 25 minutes),
Agios Konstantinos (€2.20, 40 minutes), Karlovasi (€4, one hour), the Ireon (€2.50, 25
minutes) and Mytilinii (€1.60, 20 minutes).
Additionally, from Pythagorio itself, five daily buses reach the Ireon (€1.60, 15
minutes) while four serve Mytilinii (€1.90, 20 minutes). Buy tickets on the buses. Ser-
vices are reduced on weekends.
