In the village of Therma , just east of Agios Kyrikos, time seems to have stopped.
There are traditional hot springs ( 22750 22665) , along with an enjoyable cave-like
natural sauna, Spilio Baths (To Spilio; 22750 24048; €3-4.50; daily until dusk) , and an
exceedingly charming lodging, Agriolykos Pension ( 22750 22433; www.island-
ikaria.com/hotels/agriolykos.asp ) , with stairs to the small bay which it overlooks. Worth a
stop if you're driving is Taverna Arodou ( 22750 22700) , an excellent traditonal eatery
overlooking the sea, 5km southwest of Agios Kirykos.

Evdilos, Ikaria's second port, is 41km northwest of Agios Kirykos; they're connected by
Ikaria's two main roads. The memorable trip takes in high mountain ridges, striking sea
views and slate-roof villages. Evdilos itself skirts a small semicircular bay and rises in
tiers up a hillside. It features stately old houses on winding streets and a relaxed and ap-
pealing waterfront with a small free carpark to one side.

Atheras has an almost Cycladic feel due to its bright white decor contrasting with the
blue Aegean beyond. There's an outdoor bar by the pool and the hotel is in the back-
streets, 200m from the port.

and well-managed studios and apartments (1km before Evdilos) are the sister establish-
ment of Hotel Atheras. Prices are as variable as the quarters, which feature kitchens and
spacious decks with views. The restaurant is built into a windmill.
