inner wall were painted, and an entire 'paint shop' was discovered
in 2011 [ 20 ]. It turns out that Grooved Ware originated there and
was copied elsewhere.
Speaking in Glasgow in September 2011, Neil Oliver invited
listeners to consider that Orkney might have been the center of
British Neolithic culture, and Stonehenge the group on the periph-
ery, though the pairing of Stonehenge and Durrington Walls could
have paralleled Stenness and Brodgar, with the river Avon in the
same linking role as the Brodgar peninsula [ 21 ] .
