Chiltern
POP 1150
Like an old-time movie set, tiny Chiltern is one of Victoria's most historic colonial town-
ships. Its two main streets are lined with 19th-century buildings, antique shops and a
couple of pubs - authentic enough that the town has been used as a film set for period
films, including the early Walt Disney classic Ride a Wild Pony . Originally called Black
Dog Creek, it was established in 1851 and prospered when gold was discovered here in
1859.
