; 554 High St; lunch $19-25, dinner $25-35; 10am-late Mon-Fri,
9am-late Sat & Sun)
Located in the old town-hall hotel building, Ceres oozes style with its
high-back leather chairs, starched tablecloths and occasional couches. It's a relaxed place
for lunch with all-day coffee and tapas, but there's an atmospheric fine-dining evening
restaurant with an innovative menu of Italian-influenced pastas, steaks and roast duckling.
Among the tapas and antipasto choices, the slow-cooked, sticky fried pork belly, seared
scallops, black pudding and cauliflower purée caught our eye.
