Echuca has plenty of accommodation, from quaint B&Bs and backpacker hostels to cara-
van parks, huge brick motels and old lace-trimmed hotels, much of it conveniently close
to the port area.
About 5km east of town, Christies Beach is a free camping area on the banks of the
Murray. There are pit toilets, but bring water and firewood.
ECHUCA HOUSEBOATS
Echuca is a great place to hire a houseboat. They range from six-berth to luxurious 12-berth crafts with spa baths.
Four nights midweek in the low season will cost from $900 to $2500, depending on the boat. The following out-
fits are based at the Riverboat Dock, while the Echuca Visitors Centre has brochures from and information about
other operators.
