Originally an Australian Army retreat, this sprawling complex is a well-
run hotel with all the comforts - spa, sauna and restaurant/bar - but a definite lack of pre-
tension. The restaurant-cafe (mains $15 to $36) is open year-round.

on the mountain, the Arlberg has a large range of apartments and motel-style rooms, plus
restaurants, bars, ski hire and a heated pool. Ski season only.

Eating
In winter, there are plenty of great eating choices at Mt Hotham. In summer a couple of
places serve meals and the small supermarket at the General is open.
