Harrietville
POP 234
Harrietville, a pretty little town nestled on the Ovens River below Mt Feathertop, is the
last stop before the start of the winding road up to Mt Hotham. During ski season a bus
shuttles between the town and Mt Hotham, making it a good choice for slightly cheaper
off-mountain accommodation.
Harrietville is the starting/finishing point for various alpine walking tracks, including
the popular
Mt Feathertop walk
,
Razorback Ridge
and
Dargo High Plains walks
. The town is also de-
veloping as a mountain-biking centre - you can hire bikes (half-/full day $30/40) from
Snowline Hotel, which also runs mountain-bike tours and mountain transfers.
