From Eildon, the sealed and scenic back road skirts the southern edge of the national park
to Jamieson, a charming little town where the Goulburn and Jamieson Rivers join Lake
Eildon. Jamieson was established as a supply town for gold-miners in the 1850s and a
number of interesting historical buildings remain.
Sleeping & Eating
There's good bush camping along the Jamieson and Goulburn Rivers but you must be
self-sufficient and camp at least 20m from the water - take the Jamieson-Licola Rd east or
the Woods Point Rd to the south. In town, accommodation includes a caravan park and
motel.
Twin River Cabins
( 03-5777 0582; www.twinrivercabins.com.au ; 3 Chenery St; s/d $50/90) These rustic little cabins make a
great budget retreat close to town. They sleep four to six people and have basic kitchen fa-
cilities and shared amenities. The owners rent mountain bikes for $20 a day.
