At Gelantipy, 40km north of Buchan on the road to Snowy River National Park, this
cattle-and-sheep property has comfortable backpacker and cabin digs. Rates include
breakfast; other meals are available. Activities available include abseiling, horse riding,
wild caving, white-water rafting, mountain-bike hire and farm activities .

Getting There & Away
The two main access roads to the park are the Buchan-Jindabyne Rd from Buchan, and
the Bonang Rd north from Orbost. These roads are joined by McKillops Rd (also known
as Deddick Valley Rd), which runs across the northern border of the park. Various minor
access roads and scenic routes run into and alongside the park from these three main
roads. The 43km Deddick Trail, which runs through the middle of the park, is only suit-
able for 4WDs.
Buchan Bus 'n' Freight

operates a bus service from Bairnsdale to Karoonda
Park (via Buchan) on Wednesday and Friday ($24.50, 2¾ hours).

Errinundra National Park
Errinundra National Park contains Victoria's largest cool-temperate rainforest and is one
of East Gippsland's most outstanding natural areas. The gorgeous forests surrounding the
park are a constant battleground between loggers and environmentalists.
The national park covers an area of 256 sq km and has three granite outcrops that ex-
tend into the cloud, resulting in high rainfall, deep, fertile soils and a network of creeks
and rivers that flow north, south and east. The park has several climatic zones - some
areas of the park are quite dry, while its peaks regularly receive snow. This is a rich habit-
at for native birds and animals, which include many rare and endangered species, such as
the potoroo.

length walks.
