Metung
POP 1010
Curling around Bancroft Bay, little Metung is one of the prettiest towns in the Lakes Dis-
trict. Besotted locals call it the Gippsland Riviera, and with its absolute waterfront loca-
tion and unhurried charm it's hard to argue.
At high noon pelicans fly in like dive bombers for fish dispensed outside the Metung
Hotel. Pelicans can tell time - or at least when it's time for a free feed.
