This little old fishing village, 111km by road northeast of Tidal River, is developing a repu-
tation as a trendy stopover for boating, fishing and sampling the local seafood. The town
proudly pronounces itself Gippsland's first established port, and the many historic timber
buildings in the main street dating from the 1850s bear a brass plaque, detailing their age
and previous use.

Maritime Museum

Gippsland Regional Maritime Museum, in the old Bank of Victoria (1861), will give you
an insight into the highlights of Port Albert's maritime history, with stories of shipwrecks,
the town's whaling and sealing days, and local Aboriginal legends.

Nooramunga Marine
& Coastal Park
You can hire boats and canoes from the Slip Jetty for cruising around the sheltered waters
of the Nooramunga Marine & Coastal Park.

There's a caravan park at Seabank, about 6km northwest of Port Albert, and there are a few
B&Bs in town.
