River has 484 camp sites, but only 20 powered sites. For the Christmas school-holiday
period there's a ballot for sites (apply online by 30 June at www.parkweb.vic.gov.au ) .

Park Huts
(4-/6-bed huts from $72/109) If you're travelling tent-free, these cosy wooden huts are a decent
budget option, with bunks and kitchen ettes, but no bathrooms.
Park Cabins
(d $186-207, additional adult/child $27/18) The spacious and private self-contained cabins sleep up
to six people and have large, sliding-glass doors and a deck, and overlook the bush or
river. The Lorikeet Units are equally comfortable, sleeping up to four people, but they're
closer to the visitor centre and parking area.

Wilderness Retreat
( www.wildernessretreats.com.au ; d $302.50, extra person $24.50) Nestled in bushland at Tidal River, these
are the most expensive tents on the Prom. The luxury safari tents, each with their own
deck, sleep up to four people and are pretty cool, with a bathroom, queen-sized beds, heat-
ing and a communal tent kitchen. It's like being on an African safari with a kookaburra
soundtrack.

Yanakie & Foster
The tiny, dispersed settlement of Yanakie offers the closest accommodation outside the
park boundaries - from cabins and camping to luxury cottages. Foster, the nearest main
town, has a backpackers and several motels.
Prom Coast Backpackers

backpacker hostel to the park is this friendly YHA in Foster. The cosy renovated cottage
sleeps only 10 so it's always intimate.
