For views over the harbour, take a walk along the 1850s

is the main swimming beach, while at

was mined in the 1860s, there are remains of a lime-burning kiln. Fossils found here date

Historic Buildings
There are several grand old buildings around Main St, including the 1892
Grand Hotel

Old Court House
, on the corner of Main St and the Esplanade (C783), was built in 1860, and

Police Lock-Up
behind it was built in 1862. On the opposite corner is the
Old Post Office Mu-

in the 1863 post office building. Nearby is a
monument
to the 15
members of Mornington's football team who lost their lives when their boat,
