The city's impressive buildings are first seen in Pall Mall as a splendid trio: the Shamrock

GOOGLE MAP , which is now the visitor centre. Take a look inside all three - the interiors are
just as elaborate as the exteriors. View St is a historic streetscape with some fine buildings,
including the Capital OFFLINE MAP GOOGLE MAP , which houses the Bendigo Art Gallery, and
Dudley House OFFLINE MAP GOOGLE MAP , classified by the National Trust.
If you plan on seeing the main sights, the Bendigo Experience Pass (adult/child/family $50/26.50/
128) is good value. Ask at the visitor centre.
Central Deborah Goldmine

9.30am-5pm) For a very deep experience, descend into this 500m-deep mine with a geologist.
The mine has been worked on 17 levels, and about 1000kg of gold has been removed.
After donning hard hats and lights, you're taken down the shaft to inspect the operations,
complete with drilling demonstrations. There are five tours on weekdays and six on week-
ends and they last about 75 minutes. Other tours include the 2½-hour Underground Ad-
venture ($75/45/190), or, for the claustrophobes, a self-guided surface tour ($14/7/35).
Bendigo Talking Tram

interesting tour of the city, hop aboard one of the restored vintage 'talking' trams. The
hop-on hop-off trip runs from the Central Deborah Goldmine to the Tramways Museum
OFFLINE MAP GOOGLE MAP (1 Tramways Rd; admission free with tram ticket; 10am-5pm) every half-
hour, making half-a-dozen stops, including at the Golden Dragon Museum and Lake
Weeroona.
