Where the Moyne River meets the ocean, Griffiths Island makes for a lovely one-hour
walk with some good swimming spots. It's home to a protected mutton-bird colony; they
descend on the town each October and stay until April (dusk is the best time to visit).

acting out a courtroom scene), this museum has shipping relics and old photos.
Self-Guided Walking Tours
Pick up a range of maps and brochures at the visitor centre that will guide you through
various aspects of the town's heritage. The visitor centre also has maps of the popular
Maritime & Shipwreck Heritage Walk, while architecture buffs will want to buy a copy of
Historic Buildings of Port Fairy .

Port Fairy Folk Festival

held on the Labour Day long weekend in March. It includes an excellent mix of interna-
tional and national acts, while the streets are abuzz with buskers. Accommodation can
book out a year in advance.
