Port Fairy
POP 2600
Settled in 1833 as a whaling and sealing station, Port Fairy retains its historic 19th-century
charm with a relaxed, salty feel, heritage bluestone and sandstone buildings, whitewashed
cottages, colourful fishing boats and wide tree-lined streets. It has a rich and sometimes
gloomy heritage that enraptures local history buffs. In 2012 it was voted the world's most
liveable community, and for most visitors it's not hard to see why.
